SRINAGAR: Authorities today sealed two medical shops in the Gool area of Ramban district of Jammu Kashmir during a joint inspection by the Drug Control Organisation and the Police Department, aimed at ensuring compliance with drug regulations and curbing the misuse of psychotropic medicines.
Officials said one shop was shut after it was found operating without an authorised pharmacist, with medicines being sold by an unqualified individual. The second shop was sealed for allowing an unlicensed person to conduct sales in the absence of a licensed and authorised pharmacist.
The inspection team warned that the unauthorised sale of medicines, particularly controlled drugs, poses a significant risk to public safety. They added that similar checks will continue across the district and strict action will be taken against establishments found violating the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
