SRINAGAR: Woman pilgrim from Delhi was arrested at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district after security personnel found a loaded pistol in her possession, officials said Tuesday.
As per media reports, Jyoti Gupta, who claimed to be a retired police constable, was caught with the firearm and six rounds at a checkpoint near the sanctum sanctorum on the night of March 14-15. Officials said her gun licence had expired years ago.
Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
