SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament from Jammu Lok Sabha constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma, on Friday recommended release of Rs 1 crore from his MPLAD funds to provide relief to people affected by heavy rains and flash floods.
Sharma has written to the District Development Commissioner Jammu, directing that the funds be utilized for immediate relief measures including essentials, food supplies, and other necessary assistance to those hit by the calamity.
Expressing concern over the extensive damage, Sharma said that rising water levels in rivers and nearby sources have badly affected low-lying areas of his constituency. He urged the administration to ensure swift action so that timely relief reaches the victims. (KNC)
