SRINAGAR: In its ongoing commitment to creating a clean, green, and healthy environment for citizens, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has introduced two state-of-the-art anti-smog guns equipped with water sprinklers to mitigate air and dust pollution in high-traffic areas.

The newly procured vehicles, with a capacity of 9,000 litres each, have been acquired under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). These special-purpose anti-smog guns are designed to address rising pollution levels by dispersing fine water particles up to 30 feet in height, reducing airborne dust and pollutants.
Under the directives of the Commissioner, operations commenced across key locations in Jammu, including Dogra Chowk, Canal Road, Secretariat Road, Shakuntala, Raj Bhawan, BC Road, Residency Road, Wazarat Road, Amphalla to High Court Road, Kachi Chawni Palace Road, and Vivekanand Chowk to Indira Chowk in the North Zone. The initiative will extend to Vikram Chowk–Airport Road, Panama Chowk, Green Belt Road, Gandhinagar, Channi, and Trikuta Nagar in Jammu South.
With these additions, the JMC now operates a fleet of six water sprinklers with varying capacities and ranges. The two newly procured vehicles include an advanced anti-dust gun mounted at the rear, significantly enhancing their ability to spray fine particles over a larger area.
This development aligns with guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal and Pollution Control Board authorities, which mandate measures to improve air quality in urban areas. The JMC has been consistently implementing water-sprinkling drives across Jammu City to curb air and dust pollution effectively.
The induction of these vehicles marks another step towards JMC’s goal of achieving cleaner air and ensuring a healthier living environment for the residents of Jammu.
