SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday announced a winter break for schools in the summer zone of Jammu region from December 26 to January 4.
According to an order issued by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ), government and recognised private schools in the summer zone of Jammu division will observe a 10-day winter vacation from December 26, 2024, to January 4, 2025.
DSEJ order further said that any failure by the heads of schools or teaching staff to adhere to this schedule would attract action under the relevant rules.
Notably, the School Education Department had previously announced winter vacations in phases, starting from December 10 and December 16, for schools in the Kashmir division and winter zones of the Jammu division.
Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, Suresh Kumar Gupta, in an order, had stated that for students up to 5th standard, the vacation would begin on December 10 and last until February 28, while for students from 6th to 12th standard, the vacation would begin on December 16 and end on February 28, 2025.
