In order to boost tourism in Jammu, two major projects worth Rs 566.13 crores and smaller projects worth Rs 4649.22 lakhs have been sanctioned across Jammu division. The step as per government has been taken for the promotion and development of various tourist destinations in the region, especially to promote pilgrim tourism.

To make the sector of tourism in Jammu more attractive various new places have been identified. The sanctioned projects are undertaken by the ministry of tourism and culture and so far the central government has given green signal to  three projects incurring cost of around 73.24 crore for restoration of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex at Jammu.  Out of sanctioned amount, till date Rs 16.26 crore has been released.

The information was revealed in response to question asked by Bharat Bushan, in the Legislative assembly.
However it has been also revealed that under State plan, Rs 128.96 crore were allocated for the development and up gradation of tourism related infrastructure in the years 2009- 12, and out of which Rs 392.76 crore has been shown as expenditure amount.
