SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government is planning a series of infrastructure and tourism development measures to strengthen Jammu Division as a year-round tourist destination, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in the Legislative Assembly.
The government is focusing on upgrading infrastructure at existing and emerging tourist destinations, with major interventions planned at Suchetgarh, Shiv Khori, Bhaderwah, Basohli and Mansar, according to the Chief Minister.
He said work on five identified pilgrimage circuits covering Mansar, Shiv Khori, Uttarvehni and Purmandal has also been prioritised as part of the tourism development programme.
The government is also planning sustained promotion of Jammu’s tourism potential at the local, national and international levels through tourism expos, festivals, travel marts and digital publicity campaigns.
The initiatives are aimed at increasing tourist footfall and creating livelihood opportunities for local residents through homestays, tour guiding and other tourism-related services.
