The Academic Council of University of Jammu, which met on Saturday under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof RD Sharma, took various important academic decisions related to Bhaderwah sub-district.

The council approved 5-year integrated BBA, LLB course for the Bhaderwah campus of the University.

Reports said around 42 agenda items were presented by Dr Meenakshi Kilam, the Registrar of the university. All the items were discussed along with the action taken report on the resolutions of the last Academic Council.

The item with regard to acceptance and approval of the NWAC American High School Diploma as an eligible qualification for admission to the undergraduate programme was approved as the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has accorded equivalence to the American High School Diploma Programe qualification from schools authorized by Northwest Accreditation Commission, USA and considered its equivalence to the 12th Senior Secondary School qualification of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other boards.

Various other important academic issues of the University were also discussed in the Academic Council meeting, which was attended by Prof  Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Jigar Mohd, Dean Research Studies, Deans of various Faculties, Rectors/Directors of the offsite campuses, Heads of the Departments, Conveners of Boards of Studies, College Principals and other officials of the University.

The local lawmaker of Bhaderwah, Daleep Singh Parihar hailed the decision of UGC and VC Jammu University for taking bold decision and described it right decision in right direction  and expressed hope that soon UGC will take other  decision related to sub-district Bhaderwah and declare Bhaderwah university as independent University for whole Chenab Valley where students of Doda , Kishtwar , Bhalessa , Ramban , Banihal and Chamba will receive education.
