In connection with 67th Indian republic day, functions were held across the Valley with great enthusiasm, gaiety and fervour on Tuesday, an official spokesperson said Tuesday evening.

The divisional level function was held at Bakhshi Stadium in Summer Capital Srinagar where Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon was the chief guest who unfurled the Indian Flag and took salute at March past presented by the contingents of Police, BSF, CRPF, ITBT, SSB, JKAP, IRP, Women police, Executive Police, SDRF, Fire & Emergency, Forest Protection Force, besides NCC cadets and students.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Inspector General of Police, SJM Gillani, IGP IRP, Sunil Kumar, senior officers of civil administration, Police and Paramilitary Forces besides large gathering of people attended the function.

In his speech, Dr Samoon said that Republic Day is the most significant day in the history of the country as this is the day when people of the country gave constitution to themselves.

Dr Samoon said that administration is putting all efforts for ensuring effective public delivery system across the valley and no stone will be left unturned in this regard. He said administration is giving focused attention towards education, health and other developmental sectors so that visible improvement is registered on ground and public is benefited at large.

The Divisional Commissioner also emphasized on collective efforts to eradicate social evils, preservation and protection of heritage and environment. He also prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity on the occasion.

Various colourful and mesmerizing cultural programmes were presented by the students of different educational institutions besides artists of Information, Education, Youth Services & Sports and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.

Former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Member Parliament, Mehbooba Mufti and former Ministers including Dr Haseeb A Drabu, Naeem Akhtar, Asiea Naqash and others also attended the Republic day function at Bakhshi Stadium.

BUDGAM: The function was held at Sports Stadium Budgam here today. The Deputy Commissioner, Mir Altaf unfurled the Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.

BARAMULLA: The function held at District Headquarters, Baramulla where Deputy Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest who unfurled Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.

Among others, DIG North, and SSP Baramulla, officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.

The functions were also held at both Sub-Divisions and Tehsil headquarters in the district.

At URI, SDM Uri, hoisted the Flag and took salute of the March-Past presented by contingents of Security Forces, Fire & Emergency Services and school children. Moreover, cultural programmes were also presented by groups of school children of various schools.

ISLAMABAD: The function was held at Government Degree College for Boys Islamabad. Deputy Commissioner Muneer-ul-Islam hoisted the Flag and took salute at the march past.

A colourful march past was presented by J&K Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC Cadets and students of various schools. Scintillating cultural programmes were presented by school children and Department of Information.

PAHALGAM: The Flag was unfurled by Sub Divisional Magistrate, who took salute and inspected the march past on the occasion.

KULGAM: The function was held in the district at Degree College where the senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah unfurled the tri-colour and took salute at the march past.

PULWAMA: The function was held in the district and the main function was held at District Police Lines where Deputy Commissioner, Niraj Kumar unfurled the Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP, Fire & Emergency, Home Guard and School children participated in the march past.

BANDIPORA: The function was held at SK Stadium, Bandipora where Deputy Commissioner, Sajad Hussain was the chief guest who hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.

KUPWARA: The main function was held at District Police Lines Kupwara where Deputy Commissioner, Rajiv Ranjan unfurled National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of CRPF, IRP, JKAP, JKP, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.

HANDWARA: The function was held at District Police Lines where Additional Deputy Commissioner unfurled the tri-colour and took salute at the March past

GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat unfurled the tri-colour at Ganderbal and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, Polce Training School Manigam, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.

KARGIL: The Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Muhammad Haneefa Jan hoisted the Flag at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Biamathang and took salute at an impressive march past comprising contingents of J&K Police, NCC, Army, Civil Band Party and students of Government and private schools.

LEH: The function was held at Polo Ground Leh where the Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh, Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo unfurled the tri-colour and took salute at the march past in which contingents of J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, Para-military, NCC and school children participated.
