Srinagar:
Javed Dar, who works as a photojournalist with China’s official news agency Xinhua was on Monday awarded outstanding employee of Xinhua News Agency for 2016.
Besides Javed 7 other employees were awarded at a ceremony at the agency’s Hong Kong headquarters. Javed was the only photojournalist to have achieved the feat this year.
Javed participated in the ceremony through video conferencing at Xinhua’s New Delhi bureau office and was presented with a citation, a medal and cash prize.
Pertinently, Javed received 2016 National Photography Award that was presented to him by Information and Broadcast ministry Government of India for outstanding photojournalism.
Recently, Javed besides other 8 photojournalists, also featured in a photo book title “Witness” that was released in New Delhi. The book documents the turmoil in Kashmir.
Speaking to Kashmir Life from the Indian capital city New Delhi, Javed said, “I feel absolutely ecstatic. This is the recognition of work.”
He said that it is the photojournalists who work round the clock from ground zero. “When people run away from volatile situations, we move towards the spot to show the world what is happening on the ground.”
