Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed the grenade attack on the army in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

In a statement issued to GNS, a spokesman of the outfit said that its cadres carried out the attack at Ahagam in which a number of army troopers were injured.

“Further details are awaited,” the spokesman added.

Earlier, two army troopers suffered splinter injuries after the militants lobbed a grenade on army’s patrolling party in Ahagam. The injured troopers were later hospitalised.

Soon after the attack, the government forces have launched searches to nab the assailants. (GNS)
