IAF Jet fighter plane Tuesday fell down at Marhama Bijbehara in south Kashmir in morning hours after it had taken a flight from its local airbase.
Police spokesman confirmed the air crash and said that the police team has been deputed to the area and the details are awaited.
However local sources said that they heard a big bang in the nearby fields and saw smoke emanating from the wreckage site.
The pilot is feared dead sources said.
The chief minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the air crash and tweeted “The reports coming in of a Mig fighter having crashed in south Kashmir. Hope the pilot and the people on the ground are safe” # prayers,
