SRINAGAR: Floodwaters from the Jhelum river entered the Pirzoo locality near Zero Bridge in Raj Bagh on Wednesday, prompting large-scale evacuations, officials confirmed.
Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to the area and are currently assisting residents to safety. Authorities said several families from Pirzoo have already been evacuated.
Residents living close to the riverbanks and in low-lying areas have been advised to remain prepared for evacuation and move to safer locations if necessary. The administration has urged people to stay alert, prioritise safety, and follow official advisories for the latest updates on rising water levels.
