SRINAGAR : With the Jhelum River expected to touch the warning level at the Sangam and Ram Munshibagh monitoring stations shortly, the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department on Thursday directed all officers and officials from other departments assigned to flood duty in South and Central Kashmir to immediately report to their designated duty locations.
In an advisory, the Chief Engineer, I&FC Department, Kashmir, said the rising water level in the river has necessitated the activation of the flood response mechanism.
The department also renewed its public advisory, urging residents to exercise utmost caution and avoid venturing near rivers, streams and other water bodies as heavy rainfall continues across the Valley.
The administration is closely monitoring the situation, while flood preparedness measures have been intensified in vulnerable areas amid forecasts of continued inclement weather.
