14-Year-Old Girl Reunited with Family After Three Years

   

SRINAGAR: Ramban District Administration, in coordination with local police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), successfully reunited a 14-year-old girl with her parents from Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

The girl had been found on 22 June 2022 by Police Station Ramban and was subsequently placed under the care of CWC Ramban. During her stay, she received support and shelter at Nari Niketan Doda, Government Girls’ Shelter Home Trikuta Nagar Jammu, Nari Niketan Udhampur, and later at Parisha Ramban.

The formal handover took place at the CWC office in Ramban, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, SSP Arun Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, and officials from CWC, JJB Ramban, and Mission Vatsalya.

Deputy Commissioner Khan commended the efforts of CWC Ramban, particularly Chairperson Nighat Ghani and JJB member Shah Niwaz, for tracing the girl’s extended family and facilitating her safe return. SSP Arun Gupta also praised the committees’ commitment to the welfare of children in distress and assured continued support.

The girl’s parents and relatives expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration, Ramban Police, CWC, and JJB for their dedication, care, and support in ensuring the child’s social and educational development during her stay.
