To promote Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), launched in April this year, J&K Bank conducted Mega MUDRA Camps across the state during the preceding week between September 25 and October 1.

To educate the people about the PMMY and its salient features; these Mudra Camps were organized in Shopian, Udhampur, Akhnoor, R S Pura, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Budgam, Ganderbal, Islamabad and Kulgam. Hundreds of identified beneficiaries were provided sanction letters of different loan schemes under MUDRA finance during these camps, a company statement said Saturday afternoon.

In Srinagar, a Mega Credit Camp was organized at JKB RSETI in Sonwar wherein under Prime Minister Mudra Yojana (PMMY) SHISHU loans, sanctioned by most of the banks operating in the state, were distributed among 155 beneficiaries at the function attended by a large gathering of participants and beneficiaries.  Lead District Office Srinagar organized the camp in association with other banks operating in the district viz., JKB, PNB, SBI, EDB, HDFC, JK SCB and UCO Bank.

DDC Srinagar Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Chief Guest on the occasion, distributed the authority/sanction letters among the identified beneficiaries during the event in presence of Cluster Head (I) Syed Shafat Hussain Rufaie, Cluster Head (II) Altaf Mehboob Gani besides other Bank Officials from all the major Banks.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC Srinagar urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the SHISHU Scheme and establish their own units under the scheme to eradicate unemployment in the state.

While stressing for need-based financial assistance to the beneficiaries and highlighting the role and importance of Banks, he urged other nationalized and private Banks operating in the district to contribute towards the development of the society.

In the end, LDM Srinagar extended a vote of thanks to the participants and other Banks for having made the event a success.

Meanwhile, Mudra camps were organized in Jammu at Udhampur, R S Pura and Akhnoor as well. Sanction letters of SHISHU Loans up to Rs 50000 were handed over to the beneficiaries.

During the camps, people were apprised about the Mudra Yojna and were asked to avail the said facility in order to better their economic conditions.

Notably, the PMMY provides loans between Rs 50,000 – Rs 10 lakh to small entrepreneurs. The Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Ltd (MUDRA) seeks to focus on the 5.75 Crore self-employed and provide them access to Institutional Finance.
