J&K Bank football team has emerged champions of the Second Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Football Gold Cup on Sunday.

The spokesman said bank’s team defeated United Football Club, Amritsar in the final match by 1-0. The lone goal was scored by Urfan.

Notably, United Football Club, Amritsar were last year’s champions of the tournament.

J&K State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Kavinder Gupta, Sports Minister Imran Ansari, MLC Bikram Randhawa and Brig. Sucheet Singh was among the prominent guests present on the occasion to witness the final match. The tournament was organized by MLA Rajesh Gupta.

Congratulating the Bank team for its spectacular win J&K Bank Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed said: “It is a matter of great pride for J&K Bank family that our Football team has added one more feather and have continued its last year’s performance by winning this prestigious  Gold Cup. I fervently hope they will achieve more such feats in future as well.”

The chairman further stated: “I am glad our boys are showing exemplary performance after we realigned our strategy some months back to get best out of our available talent in the game of football. I am sure the team would continue to perform in the coming tournaments and bring laurels to the bank as well as to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The news of your achievement has come as a great delight to all of us in the JK Bank Family. All your hard work, commitment and practice have paid off.”

The chairman once again emphasized on maintaining on the field or off the field discipline.  “You should conduct yourselves in such manner that enhances image and reputation of the Bank. You must ensure highest standards of professionalism in the sport”, he said.

Notably, 28 teams, including 5 from the state of Punjab participated in the tournament.
