Since the Managing director of State-owned J&K Cements Limited completed his term of extension last month, the corporation has gone virtually headless as government has failed to appoint the new Managing Director for the corporation.

Sources told KNS that the post of MD JK cement fell vacant in Oct 30 this year, when R.K Razdan completed his term of extension and since then government has failed to appoint new MD. “Government has not even constituted any search committee to launch hunt for a suitable person for the coveted post, “sources said. However Reliable sources told KNS that presently JK Cement is being headed by MD JK Sicop who has been given additional charge of JK cement.

“The government should ensure that the post shouldn’t be vacant or being looked after as additional charge,” said an official, requesting not to be named, “How can a single person be present at two offices? This benefit of doubt can even be cashed by the official himself,” said another staffer.

Officials said due to preoccupation with Sicop MD JK Sicop is unable to devote time for the JK cement. “Due to non-availability of full-time head, JK cement has been rendered almost defunct as most of the administrative decisions are pending for the past couple of days,” an official in the department said.
