Members of the Jammu and Kashmir civil Society on Monday staged protest demonstrations at press colony in Srinagar against the killing of seven civilians in south Kashmir’s Kulgam village.

Scores of the civil society members assembled at press colony shouting anti-governmental slogans against the civilian killings urged authorities to assure justice to the bereaved families.

They said an extraordinary meeting of JK civil society was held at its central office Tengpora Batmaloo Bypass, Srinagar. The members in a statement issued to press criticized the “brutal civil killing” and use of “excessive force” against the public in Laroo Kulgam, which resulted in the killing of seven civilians and dozens were injured.

Besides its chairman, Mohammad Altaf Bhat who participated in the condole meeting are Ghulam Mohamad Bhat Hamdard, Mohd Sulaiman Bhat, Showkat Hakeem Mir, Abdul Rashid, Zahoor Ahmed Khan, Naib Khan, and others.

Meanwhile, police after an encounter on October 21, 2018 (Sunday) which ended with the killing of seven civilians, three militants and two army men injured in Laroo village of Kulgam in South Kashmir, have recovered ammunition and other belongings of the militants from the encounter site.

The items include, one damaged  Climore IED, 500 gram, one AK 57 with shilling, one 56 magazine, 36, Ak 57 rounds live, 11 AK 56 empty cartridges, 11 56 fired rounds , 2 Chinese pistols, 3 Chinese pistol magazine, 8 Chinese pistol rounds live, 5 Picka rounds live, 1 Picka rounds empty cartridges, 1 UGBL thrower, 7 UGBL grenades, 3 Pouches, 2 belts,  1 rain coat, 4 Identity cards, one Samsung mobile charger without cable, 1 mobile battery, one sharing blade with handle, one machine oil (fine 90) bottle, and one wallet  (black purse).
