While addressing a Public Darbar in Baramulla, Swain highlighted that the police have implemented a new strategy to address militancy and narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir.

He emphasised that the police desire the youth to abstain from narcotics and militancy, and they urge civil society and mosque leaders to take part in this responsibility. “We believe prevention is better than cure,” he said.

DGP Swain further said, “In the past 30 years, police work has become very tough. But we believe in the philosophy that we want to make a difference, that those who want to return, we want to make a room for them.”

The Director General of Police further said that police will be very strict against people who use drugs as a business.

He acknowledged that it is a challenge, but said that police are determined to address it and deal strictly with such individuals. He stated that individuals who are victims of drug-related issues will be treated as victims, and efforts will be made to address these concerns effectively.
