During the review, MD KPDCL instructed all SDOs to decrease AT&C losses, enhance smart metering saturation, and improve billing and collection efficiency, a DIPR statement said.

Furthermore, directives were issued to disconnect the power connections of consumers who fail to settle their outstanding electricity dues.

To ensure the charging of already-installed LT-AB cables and the shifting of smart meters from bare conductors, the MD urged SDOs to coordinate with Project Executing Agencies for necessary conversions to eliminate power pilferage, particularly hooking. Executive Engineers were tasked with facilitating the charging of already installed LT-AB cables in their respective Electric Divisions.

The MD was informed that 26,746 consumers were disconnected in January 2024 due to non-payment of electricity bills. Additionally, Rs 7.50 crore in penalties were collected from consumers engaged in unauthorized power theft.

KPDCL has intensified its disconnection efforts against consumers with outstanding electricity dues across all Divisions.

The Chief Engineer (Distribution) stressed zero tolerance for power theft and revenue default, directing SDOs to escalate disconnection efforts against consumers with significant outstanding dues.

SEs of all 06 Circles were advised to evaluate the performance of SDOs and implement corrective measures to improve AT&C indices.
