SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that winter games and Jammu and Kashmir have become synonymous, affirming that the administration will enhance facilities for participants in Khelo India Edition-4 to create a memorable sports event for all involved.
The Lt Governor also launched Logo and Mascot for Khelo India Winter Games 2024.
During his address, LG Sinha emphasised that nationwide, Jammu and Kashmir has become synonymous with winter games, highlighting the region’s integral association with such events.
“In this event, the administration will work hard to make every possible arrangement for the participants,” he said.
“From 3 lakh, the number of participants in the sports events have increased to 60-65 lakh. The sports departments and the council have worked hard to make this achievement possible. In the past 7-8 years, the youngsters in the field of sports are making the nation proud at the national as well as the international level,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir, he said, is celebrating such events as festivals. “I assure the people that the administration will ensure every possible facility to make the event memorable for all,” he added.
Moreover, he said that the Mascot for the Winter Games, the Snow Leopard, is the symbol of Himalaya’s natural heritage and reflects the commitment of the government towards the protection and preservation of wildlife.
Pertinently, the fourth edition of Khelo India is slated to commence from February 02-06.
