In a written reply to a question by MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the minister in charge of the General Administration Department, said that the strength of the council of ministers must not exceed 10 percent of the total members of the Assembly, as per the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

Regarding a question on the names of the departments held by the ministers, including the Chief Minister, the government listed the portfolios assigned to five cabinet ministers but did not specify the departments held by the Chief Minister.

“Departments not allocated to any of the Hon’ble ministers are held by the Hon’ble Chief Minister,” the government stated in its written reply. (KNO)
