SRINAGAR: A man was booked under the preventive detention law and sent to judicial custody for allegedly misusing social media to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, police said on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as Ajaz Ahmed, a resident of Salian village in Surankote. A police spokesperson said the action was taken to maintain law and order in the region.
“This step reflects the police’s commitment to safeguard public order and communal harmony,” the police spokesperson said in a statement.
Police have appealed to the public to use social media responsibly and report any misuse to the nearest police station. “All platforms are under watch, and strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt peace,” the statement reads.
