SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam recovered illicit kerosene within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kulgam and arrested three individuals involved in the crime.
In a statement a police spokesperson said, “Acting on specific information about kerosene oil being sold on the black market in Arreh and Shalipora, Kulgam, police teams led by the SHO of Police Station Kulgam, along with an Executive Magistrate, conducted searches in these villages. They recovered 500 and 300 litres of illicit kerosene from Tariq Ahmad Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Shalipora; Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, son of Ali Mohd Wani, a resident of Arreh; and Mohd Lateef Khan, a resident of Sungai Danmar, Srinagar. The accused were arrested on the spot.”
Accordingly, cases under FIR Nos. 12 and 21/2025 have been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kulgam, and investigations are ongoing, police said,
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were illegally selling kerosene oil on the black market.
