Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of his visit to the Chattipadshahi Gurdwara on the occasion of Baisakhi, Birdi said the police force is working consistently to maintain law and order and protect people from the threats of drugs.

“JK Police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people. We have been relentlessly fighting against drug abuse and terrorism, and this effort will continue. We will not allow anyone to disturb the peace or ruin the lives of our youth,” Birdi said.

When asked about the threat of narco-terrorism, Birdi said the force treats it as a serious challenge and is operating in “mission mode” to address it. “In the last two years, we’ve significantly intensified our crackdown against drug peddlers. A large number of FIRs have been registered, many accused arrested, and properties seized as per legal procedures,” he said.

Such measures, he added, are intended to set a clear example and safeguard society from the impact of drugs and associated criminal networks.

He also said that the police remain committed to providing a secure environment in which people can move, work, and live without fear. On the occasion, he prayed for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. “Festivals bring people together and offer an opportunity to seek blessings,” Birdi said. (With JKNS Inputs)
