SRINAGAR: A Special Police Officer (SPO) posted as the driver of the SDPO MR Ganj, Irfan Hajam, saved the life of a woman who attempted to jump into the river Jhelum near Khankah-e-Moula recently.
Eyewitnesses said the woman jumped into the river in an apparent suicide attempt. Nearby volunteers tried to rescue her but were unable to reach her in time.
Acting on the directions of the SDPO MR Ganj, SPO Irfan Hajam responded quickly. He jumped into the river without hesitation and managed to rescue the woman, bringing her to safety.
She was given first aid and later shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have praised the SPO’s timely action, which prevented a tragedy. (KNO)
