JK Police Sanctions Rs 2.98 Crore in Welfare Relief for Families of Deceased Personnel

   

SRINAGAR: Demonstrating its commitment to supporting the families of deceased police personnel, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, has sanctioned a special welfare relief amounting to Rs 2.98 crore for 15 dependents and legal heirs of deceased personnel. Additionally, financial assistance has been approved to support the marriages of the daughters of two fallen heroes.

Under various orders, the DGP has sanctioned Rs 22 lakh each to the dependents and legal heirs of 13 deceased police personnel. This includes Sub-Inspector Abdul Rashid Ganie, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Jai Paul Singh and Rahul Pandita, and Head Constables Abdul Majid Lone, Subash Chandra, Surjeet Kumar, Divender Pal Singh, Jia Lal, and Mohammad Latif. Also included are SgCts Skinder Singh, Jai Pal Singh, Rash Paul Singh, and Constable Sarafraz Ahmad. Besides, Rs 6 lakh each has been sanctioned for the dependents and legal heirs of two deceased Special Police Officers, Yesh Pal Singh and Mukesh Kumar.

An initial amount of Rs 1 lakh each has already been given to the families of deceased police personnel, and Rs 50,000 each to the families of deceased Special Police Officers (SPOs) for performing last rites. These special welfare relief funds are disbursed from the Contributory Police Welfare Funds, specifically designated to support the welfare of police personnel and their families in times of need.

The DGP has also approved financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each for the marriage of the daughters of two slain personnel and for a follower whose house was damaged in a land-sinking incident, to aid in his rehabilitation.
