JK Police’s Cyber Cell Recovers Rs 11 Lakh, 30 Stolen Mobiles in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said that this year, the Cyber Cell in South Kashmir’d Kulgam received several applications and reports from the public regarding missing or stolen mobile phones.

“Acting on these applications, a dedicated team from the Cyber Cell Kulgam, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam, has recovered 30 smartphones from different locations. These phones were either lost or stolen, and all have been returned to their rightful owners after completing the necessary legal formalities,” the police spokesperson said.

In a statement, the spokesperson also mentioned that the Cyber Cell Kulgam had solved significant online financial fraud cases, recovering Rs 11,09,565, which was refunded to the victims’ accounts after completing the legal formalities. An additional Rs 21,88,715 has been put on hold following various complaints.

“The Cyber Cell of Kulgam Police urges the general public to exercise caution while using mobile phones and electronic gadgets to protect themselves from cyber-related frauds and crimes. If anyone falls victim to cyber crime or fraud, they should immediately file a complaint on the online portal cybercrime.gov.in and report the matter to the Cyber Cell Kulgam,” the spokesperson added.

Additionally, the public is advised to take precautions to protect themselves from cyber frauds and crimes. They should limit sharing personal information on social media and avoid disclosing Aadhaar, PAN card details, or any finance-related OTPs to anyone.
