JK Wins Gold at National ODOP Awards for Second Consecutive Year

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has secured the Gold medal in the States (Category B) at the National One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This is the second consecutive year that JK has received the award in this category.

According to officials, 641 applications were received from 587 districts, 31 States and Union Territories, and 23 Indian Missions Abroad.

Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, and Sudershan Kumar, Managing Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO), received the award on behalf of the J&K Government.

JKTPO serves as the nodal agency for the ODOP initiative in the Union Territory.

In the district-level categories, Pulwama received the Silver medal in Category A (Agriculture), while Ganderbal received the Silver medal in Category B (Non-Agriculture). Dr Basharat Qayoom, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, and Jatin Kishore, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, accepted the awards on behalf of their respective districts.

The ODOP Awards were given in categories including Districts (Agriculture and Non-Agriculture), States (Category A and B), and Missions Abroad.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary have been overseeing the implementation of the initiative in the region.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, addressed the participants and called for continued efforts in promoting ODOP products to support local producers.

JKTPO plans to expand its promotional activities for ODOP products across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on improving market access and visibility.
