SRINAGAR: Secretary Tourism and Culture Syed Abid Rashid Shah Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a big boom in every segment of tourism. He added that actors and filmmakers across the country are moving back to Kashmir to make movies, web series, and documentaries.

“Every segment of tourism be it leisure tourism, golf tourism or MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism has seen a big boom in Jammu and Kashmir,” Secretary Tourism Syed Abid Rashid Shah during a Mahurat shot ceremony of a bilingual feature film which is being shot in Kashmir. Several veteran Kashmiri actors will play their role in the movie.

He said film tourism is one of the best segments in Jammu and Kashmir. “The J&K government has given shooting permission to 400 movies, out of which around 250 movies are done,” he said and added, “Some of the best production houses across the country are making movies in J&K because we have best locations and settings as compare to other parts of the world”.

He added it is a positive trend that lots of movies are going to be shot here, and it is our collective effort to revive bollywood culture in the UT. “Actors and filmmakers across the country are coming back to Kashmir valley for making movies. We are providing them a suitable atmosphere to enable further boom in film tourism in J&K,” he added. (KNS)
