SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has proposed merging its branch offices at the Tehsil level with sub-offices at the district headquarters.

In this regard, the board has requested a feasibility report from the committee appointed by the authorities.

BOSE Assistant Secretary stated in a communication, “Branch offices were established across JK at Tehsil levels in various districts by the JKBOSE to provide services to stakeholders at their doorsteps, which were previously offered in physical and manual modes.”

“In light of the transition made by the JKBOSE to offer services online and digitally, particularly regarding examination and related activities, the number of stakeholders visiting the offices has significantly decreased, rendering their existence redundant across JK,” the statement reads.

Accordingly, BOSE mentioned that to reduce the number of offices in a district, it is considering merging fifteen branch offices with the respective districts and sub-offices of JKBOSE, from where they were originally established.

BOSE stated that before formal orders are issued, committees have been formed to submit a feasibility report for the proposed merger. “The committee is expected to submit its report within three weeks,” it concludes. —(KNO)
