SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has directed examination centre superintendents to collect and pack answer scripts roll number-wise rather than series-wise for the Annual/Regular 2026 examinations, warning that any deviation from the instructions will invite accountability.
The directive was issued in a circular dated October 23, 2026, signed by JKBOSE Secretary GH Sheikh (JKAS).
The Board said roll number-wise packing would facilitate coding, help trace missing answer scripts and save time and resources. It would also assist in cases where candidates mistakenly write their roll numbers or series on answer scripts.
The circular further directs centre superintendents and invigilators to ensure that every candidate clearly mentions both their roll number and series on the answer script. The examination staff must verify these particulars on each script before attesting the details and packing the answer scripts into parcels.
Warning of action for non-compliance, the Board said any deviation from the instructions would be held against the concerned centre superintendents and invigilators, who would be made accountable for errors in the collection and packing of answer scripts.
JKBOSE has also asked its vigilance squads to verify compliance with the circular during inspections of examination centres.
