Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Doctors Coordination Committee on Sunday expressed the serious concern and dismay over the non-enhancement of postgraduate (PG) seats in SKIMS Srinagar.

The spokesman said they have meritorious aspirant doctors across the state who are keen to excel in the medical field and serve the state with added knowledge and capacity.  JKDCC with its member association viz  Doctors Association Kashmir, Doctors Association Jammu, Chenab Valley Doctors Association,  All Ladakh Doctors Welfare Association,  and other associations stress upon honourable Chief Minister and honourable Health minister to take up the issue seriously with union health minister JD Nadda Ji and enhance the PG capacity in SKIMS without any delay.

Besides fulfilling the aspirants of ambitious doctors it will help the people of the state by increasing the number of qualified specialists in the state, the statement said.

In a statement, Convener JKDCC, Dr Tak has stressed upon the honourable Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene personally in this regard and get it done without any delay.  “Though we have managed some increase in the seat quota at Government Medical colleges however we are still deprived of an increase in the PG seats at SKIMS.  We have already approached various concerned quarters be it SKIMS authorities, secretariat and health minister but we have failed to seek enhancement of PG seats in SKIMS, “he said.
