According to the protestors, Shabir Ahmad Shah has been in jail since July 2017 and during this period, he has gone through a very ugly phase and treated badly.

The protesting JKDFP members, holding placards and banners expressed serious concern over the health condition of Shabir Shah who according to them is continuously denied suitable medical treatment in Tihar jail.

They said he has been put inside a 6×4 cell and is not even able to move around which is physically very bad for him. Moreover, he is already suffering from many health issues and his condition is deplorable.

The protest demonstration was led by advocate Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar. He said, “We want the authorities to look into the matter and shift our leader to a better place where he doesn’t have to face such problems.”

He said that Shabir Shah is suffering from multiple ailments especially knee and back pain, arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, heart ailments and he is not able to get himself accommodated in the small cell in Tihar jail. He said that the jailed resistance leader is allowed to go to washroom only after seeking permission.

He also demanded Shabir Shah’s treatment as early as possible and said that he should be released from the jail soon.
