The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Monday termed the struggle and sacrifices rendered by Mohammad Maqbool Bhat as a ‘national treasure’ and maintained that no Kashmiri can forget those sacrifices.

This was stated by the leaders of JKLF in a meeting held in connection with the martyrdom anniversary of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat on February 11.While presiding over the meeting, the acting chairman JKLF advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat said that Maqbool Bhat provided this poor nation a new lesson of struggle and sacrifices. “He accepted gallows but never compromised on the independence of Jammu Kashmir,” he told party members.

Other speakers in the meeting said that it was Maqbool Bhat who changed the course of Kashmiri history and removed the dark stains of cowardice and inaction from our forehead. “He refused to shun the path of struggle and sacrifice and thus became immortal,” speakers said while appealing for a complete shut down on “Maqbool day” on Monday February 11, 2013.

“This day is our national day and Kashmiris across the globe will remember their national hero and his sacrifices on the day,” party members repeatedly said on the occasion. Speakers said that Shaheed Maqbool Bhat was not only martyred on gallows but even his corpse was buried inside jail and his remnants still remain in Indian jail under custody.

“From last 28 years, Kashmiri nation has been demanding the return of these remnants to Kashmir and it is the legal, moral and religious right of martyr to have a proper burial in the grave kept for him in Srinagar,” speakers said while adding, “This year Kashmiris will, as previously, protest and demand for the return of the remnants of their beloved leader and father of nation.”

Announcing a ten day program in this regard the speakers said that in connection with the martyrdom of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat programs will be held in every district of Jammu Kashmir. On Saturday Feb 02, 2013 a candle lit march will be held at Madina Chowk Gawkadal after Magrib prayers.

On Monday February 4, program will be held in Pulwama and Shopian and on Tuesday Feb 5, program will be held at Baramullah and Bandipora.

On Wednesday Feb 6, program will be held at Islamabad and Kulgam and on Thursday Feb 7, program will be held at Ganderbal.

On Saturday Feb 9, program will be held at Budgam, and on Sunday Feb 10, program will be held at Kupwara. On Monday Feb 11, a complete shut down across Jammu Kashmir will be observed and besides this a public rally will be held at Trehgam Kupwara.

“In connection with Maqbool Day on Friday February 08, 2013, a protest rally will be organized from JKLF headquarters Maqbool Manzil Srinagar after Friday prayers. Same kind of programs will be organized across Azad Kashmir,” party statement informed.

JKLF statement also maintained that programs will also be held at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi and Aibotabad etc, besides programs will also be organized in USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Brassels, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Holland and other parts of Europe.
