JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik was Monday arrested when he was on his way to Hyderpora to have a meeting with Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani, JKLF spokesperson said.
Malik was arrested at Batamaloo by a police party and lodged to Kothi Bagh Police Station. The party spokesperson said Malik was scheduled to have a ‘routine’ meeting with Geelani.
While condemning its chief’s repeated arrests, the party spokesperson said the present coalition government is hell bent upon to harass the leader.
“The nasty treatment of this dispensation can be gauged from the fact that not even in peak militancy, forces harassed Malik’s family members, including his mother and sister,” the spokesperson said. “But now the government that assumed power by floating ‘battle of ideas’ doctrine is behaving like marshal.”
Notably, JKLF chief faced repeated arrests shortly after he initiated ‘unity campaign’ in the Hurriyat camp.
