The path of struggle and sacrifices shown by the father of Kashmiri Nation Martyr Mohammad Maqbool Bhat is our way. We are the torch bearers of these sacrifices and struggle and will keep our struggle on till the achievement of the goal,” this was stated by acting chairman of  JKLF Bashir Ahmad Bhat while addressing a torch sit in at Madina Chowk Maisuma.

Reiterating the pledge to carry movement forward, Bhat said, “the harsh court verdicts against Kashmiri’s are nothing but judicial torture policy of India and besides all these undemocratic tactics by India, Kashmiri’s will keep the flame of freedom struggle lit.

“The day of martyrdom of our beloved leaders Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, 11th February ( Maqbool day) reminds us about the sacrifices of the great leader who kissed gallows but never compromised on his struggle and principles,” Bhat said while adding that Mohammad Maqbool Bhat was hanged illegally and undemocratically and after his martyrdom on gallows his dead body was not handed over to kashmiri’s. Instead it was buried inside Tihar jail Delhi and still remains there.

Demanding to have mortal remains of Maqbool, Bhat said, “Kashmiri’s have been for last three decades demanding for the return of his mortal remains and dead body so that it can be buried with religious honor and dignity in the grave kept at Mazar I Shuhada Eid Gah Srinagar.”

“Our demand is in every way and means a just and fare demand and world should take note of this tyrant approach by India,” he added.

Calling for a shut down on Monday, February 11, 2013, Bhat said that kashmiri’s will remember their beloved leader on Maqbool day and demand for the return of his dead body and mortal remains to his people.

Giving details of the ten day program, Bhat said that on February 8 2013 a protest march will be taken out from Maqbool Manzil. Besides this programs will be held at every district headquarter.

Expressing serious concern over the plight of prisoners in jails, Bhat said that today’s program is also intended at highlighting the deteriorating condition of our prisoners languishing in jails and also to protest against recent court verdicts by which many kashmiri’s have been sentenced to life etc.

“We cannot watch this worsening situation silently and JKLF will keep its peaceful struggle on in this regard.”

People participating in the sit in raised slogans in favor of Azadi, martyrs, prisoners and for the return of mortal remains of Mohammad Maqool Bhat.
