SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) convened an executive council meeting on Friday at the MED Complex, Shalteng Srinagar, expressing gratitude for the reforms implemented during the tenure of Shalindera Kumar (IAS) as the Principal Secretary in PWD (R&B) & Mechanical Engineering.

The association also extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed secretary, Bhupinder Kumar (IAS).

Reflecting on the decisions made under the leadership of Shalindera Kumar, the JKMEGA members acknowledged the elimination of adhocism and in-charge promotions within the Engineering cadre, particularly in the Mechanical wing. One member stated, “The decisions taken during Shalindera Kumar’s tenure are worth praising and will be memorable for generations to come.”

The association lauded the administration for the introduction of online services, encompassing HRM, finance, and billing, which revolutionized the department, ensuring the highest level of transparency in the system. Another member remarked, “The availability of online services has brought a revolutionary change and transparency to the department.”

In light of the recent reshuffle and Shalindera Kumar’s transition to a new assignment, the members expressed gratitude for the remarkable steps taken for the welfare of the public and the engineering community. They commended the historical reorganisation and restructuring of PWD, emphasising its necessity and successful implementation under the dynamic leadership of Shalindera Kumar and his team.

The association concluded the meeting by addressing minor concerns raised by the Mechanical Engineering fraternity regarding the recent reorganisation. Emphasising the importance of resolving these concerns, they underscored the need to ensure the continuous growth and development of the Mechanical Engineering fraternity in Jammu & Kashmir for the larger benefit of the public.

Er Firdous Ahad Bhat, President of JKMEGA, affirmed the association’s commendation for the administration’s commitment to promoting excellence in the engineering sector. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate towards building a better and more sustainable future for the engineering sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
