JKMEGA Marks 57th Engineers Day in Srinagar

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) celebrated the 57th Engineers’ Day to honour the birth anniversary of the esteemed engineer and Bharat Ratna awardee, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

In his address, JKMEGA President Er Ferdous Ahad Bhat (FIE) emphasised the pivotal role of engineers in fostering sustainable development. He highlighted the importance of adopting emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to address contemporary challenges.

Bhat also advocated for greater exposure and advanced training programmes for the engineering community.

The council acknowledged the significant contributions of engineers to the development of Jammu and Kashmir, noting their vital roles in improving road connectivity, ensuring reliable water and power supply, and providing essential hospital services.

Members reiterated their call for the implementation of the Assured Career Progression Scheme for engineers, a long-standing issue crucial for boosting morale and enhancing public service.

The engineering community expressed its commitment to contributing to the development and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir.
