SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has announced a major organisational reshuffle within its Kashmir unit, aimed at strengthening the party’s leadership across the Valley. The changes, approved by party President Farooq Abdullah, introduce new appointments in key roles to enhance the party’s structure and outreach.

Reports suggest that Advocate Showkat Ahmad Mir has been appointed as the new Provincial President of JKNC Kashmir. Mir, who previously served as Provincial Secretary, replaces Nasir Aslam Wani, who has been named as Advisor to the Chief Minister.
In the party’s North Zone, Sajad Shafi Uri, former District President for Baramulla, has been promoted to Zonal President, succeeding Javid Ahmad Dar, who has now assumed a ministerial role. Uri’s previous position as District President of Baramulla will be taken over by Advocate Shahid Ali Shah, formerly the Vice President of JKNC North Zone.
These appointments reflect JKNC’s focus on reinvigorating its leadership in Kashmir and building a robust organisational framework to strengthen its political presence across the region.
