SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified National Conference workers following an alleged attack on Sugra Barkati and her supporters in the Beerwah area of Budgam district.
According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, Police Station Beerwah has registered FIR No. 109/2024 under Sections 126(2) and 351(2) of the BNS. The police have named unknown workers of the National Conference in the FIR.
Notably, Sugra, the daughter of jailed Sarjan Ahmad Wagay, also known as Sarjan Barkati, claimed that her supporters were assaulted and campaign vehicles were vandalised during campaigning in the Beerwah constituency on Tuesday evening. Barkati is contesting as an independent candidate from the Ganderbal and Beerwah assembly segments, with his daughter leading the campaign.
