SRINAGAR: Using its in-house competence, the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation has commissioned the crucial 400 KV Line-in Line-out (LiLo) of Kishanpur-New Wanpoo Line at Baglihar Hydro Electric Project. The project was hanging since 2016, official sources said.

“With the commissioning of LiLo, now power can be transmitted from Baglihar to Kashmir directly,” officials said. “It will ensure redundancy of power flow to Kashmir and Jammu regions in case there is a breakdown of Baglihar-Kishenpur power transmission line.”

The project was completed despite the pandemic. Niteshwar Kumar, Principal Secretary Power was overseeing and monitoring the project.

An estimated Rs 32 crore project involved setting up 16 power transmissions towers over a length of four kilometres. The two lines – in and out – take off from the main power station and join the main transmission line near Nashri. JKPDC took some basic consultancy from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) and set up the line on its own. M/S KEC International was the contractor.

JKPDC MD Raja Yaqoob and Mrs Raheela Wani, ED JKPDC, congratulated the staff for working round the clock to complete the project. They said it showcases the capacity of the JKPDC engineers in implementing crucial projects.
