JK’s Budgam Official Booked for Bribery

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said it has trapped and arrested a Patwari from Halqa Humchipora, Budgam, while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.

ACB spokesperson in a statement said, “A written complaint was received by the ACB alleging that Tahir Jan Malla, Patwari Halqa Humchipora, Budgam, was demanding a bribe of ₹2,000 each for two sale deeds to effect the mutation (Intiqal) of land located at Alamnaag, Khag, Budgam, in favour of the complainant through the online system. The complainant requested legal action against the public servant under relevant provisions of law.”

“Upon receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which confirmed the bribe demand by the accused public servant. Accordingly, FIR No. 14/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation was initiated,” the statement said.

A trap team was constituted during the investigation, which successfully caught the accused, Tahir Jan Malla of Sebdan Budgam, red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 2,000 from the complainant.

After completing all necessary medico-legal formalities, the accused public servant was taken into custody. Further investigation in the case is underway, the statement added.
