SRINAGAR: In the second match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy, Jammu and Kashmir faced a big defeat against Gujarat on the third day of the match at Narendra Modi Stadium Motera in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Jammu and Kashmir’s batters showed a very poor performance and throughout the match struggled to make any substantive score.

Gujarat won the toss and elected to bat first. Gujarat made 307 runs in the first innings, against which the J&K team showed a disappointing performance and was bowled out for just 135 runs in 43.5 overs.

Fazil Rashid (J&K Wicketkeeper) played an excellent inning of 51 runs of 84 balls and Suryansh Raina made 27 runs of 44 balls, which prevented the further embarrassing downfall of the J&K team. Abid Mushtaq bowled 37 overs taking four wickets and was the dominant wicket-taker for the J&K team.

After Gujarat imposed the follow-on, J&K got all out at 182 runs in the second innings taking the score from the J&K side to a total of 317. Henan Nazir scored 43 of 97 balls and Vivrant Sharma scored 41 of 50.

Gujarat secured an easy win by 9 wickets in the second innings of the match with the loss of only 1 wicket.

This is the second defeat of the J&K in this season, the first with the defending champion Madhya Pradesh followed by this defeat against Gujarat.

The playing eleven of J&K includes Suryansh Raina, Shubham Khajuria, Henan Nazir, Vivrant Sharma, Shubham Pundir (Captain), Fazil Rashid (WK), Sahil Lotra, Abid Mushtaq, Auqib Nabi, Yudvir Singh, and Umran Malik.

J&K will play their next match against Vidarbha of Maharashtra on December 27 at VCA stadium, Civil Lines, Nagpur.
