J&K State Forest Corporation (SFC) has generated a revenue of Rs 122.19 crore by selling 22.25 lakh cft in open auction and supplying 3.636 lakh cft of timber to Forest Sale depots during current (till January 2014) fiscal.

Briefing the Board of Directors of the SFC, the Managing Director of the corporation informed about the measures that stand initiated to improve the financial health of the corporation. He claimed the system of allotment of works and project formulation has been streamlined resulting in smooth execution of the works taken up in the field.

MD said during current financial year the timber extraction has reached to 27 lakh cft which is expected to reach to 29 lakh cft up to ending this fiscal while transportation of timber will touch to 27 lakh cft during this period. He said the timber sale of the Corporation will exceed the target of 21 lakh cft.

Managing Director said plantation and trading of medicinal plants, setting of wood based manufacturing units and mechanical workshops would go a long way in improving the financial health of the corporation besides utilizing the services of available manpower in the best interest of the organization. Besides, he said certain measures already taken to streamline the human resources management would help Corporation save two crore rupees annually.

SFC is opening new eight sale depots, four each in Kashmir and Jammu, the meeting decided.
