Senior PDP leader and Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu Thursday said the coalition with the BJP was done to make Jammu and Kashmir ‘economically self sustainable.’

Talking to KNS, Dr Drabu said the state government is making efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir economically viable and politically stable.

“My priority as a Finance Minister is to make the state self sufficient so that the begging bowl syndrome could no longer remain in vogue,” he said.

The Finance Minister said that the alliance between PDP and BJP is focused on development and receive maximum help from government of India to put JK back on gear that witnessed the dreadful economic crises in the previous regime.

Commenting over the reports of liabilities of Rs 9 thousand crore, Dr Drabu said, “People question the preset government what happened to such a whopping amount and how it was spent. All we have prioritized is that no funds should lapse anymore. The central funds need to be spent on ground.”

He maintained that gradually the financial crises will cease in JK and the state machinery continues to remain on tenterhooks to accord relief to the perturbed people.

Over the delay in salaries to employees as reported in several departments, Dr Drabu said, “The issue is ending and in near future all the government departments would be issued salaries on time. There would be no longer such difficulties faced by the state government employees. The crises would get over.”

  1. Had there been any truth in FinMin’s assertion, the situation on ground would have been different. Inspite of the devastation the flood caused, the calamity wasn’t declared as “national disaster”. Seven months after floods devastated Kashmir, people are yet to receive relief. Had it been some other state of india, the situation would have been of national mourning.

Every new govt blames the previous govt for financial mess. NC did it in 2009 and pdp is doing it now.

SSa Teachers/ ReTs have been without pay for last 8 to 10 months. Instead of relieving them of the agony and pain, Mr. Edu Min leaves no occasion without lambasting them. For every mess in edu deptt, he blames teachers. For infrastructure, faulty syllabus, corruption, laxity on part of parents is all blamed on teachers. One individual teacher’s sins, whole communiy is held responsible.

This is the new age government. It kicks out those who have given 2 to 10 years of their precious life to govt as casual labourers, contractuals etc.

Mr. Finance Minister, don’t lie. By siding with bjp, you have brought misery to Kashmir free of cost. Nothing else but misery.
