Director General of Police Shri K Rajendra Kumar chaired a high level meeting Sunday in Police Control Room Kashmir to review the arrangements regarding Martyrs day,Shab-e-Qadar,Jamat-ul-Vidah and Eid-ul-Fitir.

“DGP was given briefing by officers about the measures being taken to ensure security and maintenance of law and order. Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, IGP Kashmir gave a detailed account about necessary steps being taken to ensure peaceful conduct of Martyrs day,” a police statement said this evening.

He informed the DGP that law and order will be maintained and nobody will be allowed to disrupt the function and orders have been given to officers and men below to ensure that proper SOP’s regarding law and order are followed and to ensure safety and security of the common people.

The statement said that the DGP asked all the officers present in the meeting to provide all assurance to devotees who would visit various mosques and shrines on the holy occasions of Shab-e-Qadar and Jumat-ul-Vidah.

He also asked Alok Kumar DIG Traffic to ensure hassle free movement of traffic so that people don’t face any hardships. DGP stressed that there should be a proper traffic plan and same needs to be enforced on ground.Other officers from CID and CRPF also briefed DGP about the measures having been taken to maintain the order and to tackle all issues having bearing on security and safety of people.

“At the end DGP emphasised the need to follow a proper Law and Order drill and use of minimum means to address any law and order issue.” He said that these holy occasions bestow a collective responsibility upon law and order machinery to help our people in best possible way. He asked all the officers to brief their men on ground to be sensitive to the aspirations of the people and ensure peaceful conduct of all the holy occasions and Martyrs day.
