SRINAGAR: The encounter in Kachdoora village is still going on and at least two militants have taken positions in a new house, police said.

“We have been told that two soldiers were injured in the fresh gun battle and one of them has succumbed,” a police officer told Kashmir Life. “Earlier, two soldiers were killed in the same encounter.”

Police said they have got confirmation to the killing of not less than three militants in Kachdoora but the bodies have not been retrieved so far. There are at least militants who are still engaging the army.

Police said they have no clear idea about who the militants are in Kachdoora. Already at least two houses went up in flames during the gunbattle that is raging since wee hours on Sunday.

The area turned restive on Sunday as gun battles started at three different locations in the south Kashmir region. One militant was killed in Dyalgam, seven in Dragad as two civilians also lost their lives. All the slain militants are locals and the police have handed over their bodies to the respective families. In certain cases, the burials were also reported.
