After giving slip to forces in Kakapora’s Namman village late Saturday afternoon, police said that a militant was killed in a neighboring Begum bagh village while fleeing.

“The slain militant has been identified as Irshad Ahmad of Pulwama’s Padgampora,” the police spokesperson said. The slain was caught in a cordon before being killed.

Earlier, sources said a special team of police force was called from Srinagar’s Cargo housing police’s special operation group to be the part of the operation.

The gunfight broke out after a joint party of army and SOG showed up in the area acting on a tip-off.

The gunshots were still ringing in the area at the time of filing of this report.
